ToledoMc Acceptable Use

ToledoMC Acceptable Use Policy

At ToledoMC, our platform supports game servers played on by millions of players around the world. We provide the infrastructure; you shape the experience. When we say “platform,” we mean all the services we provide including game server hosting, game server maintenance, and any additional services we may provide now or in the future. This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) outlines how our platform should be used and what we don’t allow. As the account holder, you’re expected to take reasonable steps to ensure your server isn’t used for abusive, illegal, or harmful purposes. That includes your own actions and, when possible, the environment you create for your players. Abuse, whether between users, across communities, or directed at ToledoMC is something we take seriously. By using our services, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

Our services are built to support all kinds of game communities, from private friend groups to massive public servers. This policy outlines the kind of activity we allow, and what crosses the line. If you’re hosting with ToledoMC, it’s your responsibility to ensure your use of the platform aligns with these rules.

2. Restrictions and Consequences

We monitor server performance and resource usage to keep everything running smoothly, but we don’t actively review what happens inside the services you run. That said, if we learn that our platform is being used in a way that causes harm, breaks the law, or puts others at risk, we will take action. You may not use our platform to engage in the following activities. This list is not exhaustive. If you are unsure whether something is permitted, please contact us before proceeding.

Illegal or Dangerous Activity

  • Break any local, state, federal, or international law, statute, or regulation.
  • Host, distribute, or promote malware, ransomware, spyware, or phishing scams.
  • Launch, coordinate, or assist with DDoS attacks or other forms of network abuse.
  • Host, share, or use pirated software, cracked games, or unauthorized copies of licensed content, including paid mods, plugins, or add-ons obtained without proper permission or payment.
  • You may not use the Services in any manner that could disable, overburden, or impair any of our servers, whether intentional or otherwise.

Harmful Content or Behavior

  • Harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or target others with abusive behavior.
  • Promote or participate in hate speech, violent extremism, or discriminatory ideologies.
  • Share content involving minors that violates child safety laws, including sexually explicit or exploitative material.
  • Encourage or glorify self-harm, suicide, or dangerous behavior.

Misleading, Abusive, or Deceptive Practices

  • Spread knowingly false information intended to cause harm or confusion.
  • Impersonate others, including ToledoMC staff, community figures, or public officials.
  • Engage in phishing, social engineering, or other attempts to obtain private data through deception.

Misuse of Services

  • Monetize your game server or community in ways that violate a game developer’s EULA or monetization policy.
  • Abuse system resources with crypto mining, spam, automated scraping, or unauthorized bots.
  • Host content or run services that degrade the performance or reliability of our network or impact other customers.
  • Use our services in ways that violate fair use expectations. This includes sustained excessive resource usage or behavior that negatively affects others. See Section 5 below for more on fair use.

Enforcement and Consequences

We take violations of this policy seriously. Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Remove content
  • Suspend services
  • Terminate accounts
  • Deny refunds
  • Block access to certain features
  • Throttle resources to reduce impact on other users

This is not a complete list. We may take any other actions we reasonably believe are necessary to protect our platform, customers, or infrastructure.

In cases involving illegal activity or threats to others, we may also report the incident to law enforcement or other relevant authorities.

3. Service-Specific Expectations

While this policy applies to all services, some service types have common patterns of misuse. Here are a few additional notes:

Game Servers

You may not:

  • Upload, distribute, or use pirated modpacks or paid plugins without appropriate licenses or author permission.
  • Circumvent developer licensing models or server software protections.
  • Monetize your server in ways that violate the game developer’s EULA or monetization policies (e.g., selling pay-to-win advantages in violation of Mojang’s commercial guidelines).
  • Use your server to host game clients, cracked launchers, or unauthorized redistribution of game files.

You are responsible for ensuring your server’s compliance with any relevant third-party terms.

Note: The examples and restrictions listed in this Acceptable Use Policy are not exhaustive. Any use of our services that we reasonably believe to be illegal, harmful, abusive, or inconsistent with the spirit of this policy may be grounds for suspension or termination, even if not specifically listed here.

4. Respect the Games You Host

We provide hosting for Minecraft, which has its own license terms, modding rules, and monetization policies. As the account holder, you’re responsible for making sure your server complies with those requirements, including, but not limited to, restrictions on pay-to-win features, unauthorized monetization, and the use of disallowed mods or plugins.

5. Abuse Reporting

If you see our services being used for something abusive, illegal, or harmful, please report it to [email protected]. Include as much context as you can, such as IP addresses, logs, timestamps, or screenshots to help us investigate. We take every report seriously and act promptly when something violates this policy.

6. Fair Use

We offer flexible resource usage on many of our services, including unmetered storage and bandwidth. These benefits are designed to support a wide range of use cases and work best when everyone uses them fairly. Services must be used for their intended purpose; for example, storing unrelated or personal files on a game server is prohibited.

While bandwidth is unmetered, it is still subject to fair use. Excessive or abnormal bandwidth consumption, particularly at sustained levels that go beyond typical usage patterns, may result in action. This applies regardless of intent, especially if such usage impacts network performance or the experience of other customers.

If your usage goes significantly beyond normal consumption and/or impacts performance for other customers, we may throttle, migrate, or suspend your service. This includes things like plugins with memory leaks, runaway scripts, or resource usage that consistently causes instability. Occasional CPU-heavy activity is expected, but persistent overuse may lead to throttling or suspension.

See “Enforcement and Consequences” under Section 2 for more on how we handle violations.

7. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this Acceptable Use Policy as our services evolve. We’ll post any changes on this page, and for significant updates, we may notify you by email as required by law.

Are you still unsure if an action is acceptable, reach out! We are happy to clarify any of the items on this Acceptable Use Policy.
